Rev. James P. Gause
The minsistry of Rev. James P. Gause is a demonstration of what is meant by Godly Leadership>. Rev. Gause’s godly leadership can be illustrated by his presentation of life that “Its not in the land its in the man”, his commitment to the ministry, his congregation, family and community.
Rev. Gause is a native of Brittons Neck Community located in Marion County, South Carolina. He was reared under the religious teachings of Mrs. Eiffie Dell Gause and the late Mr. King Gause. He is married to the former Brenda Graves. Their forty years of marital bliss and their love and commitment to each other can be viewed through the eyes of their children and grandchildren.
Possessing a commitment to education, Rev. Gause was educated through the Britton’s Neck Public School System and Morris College School of Religion. In 1974, Rev. Gause was licensed to preach and later ordained as an Itinerant Deacon (1979) and an Itinerant Elder (1984).
In addition to serving as pastor of Greater St. James AME Church, Rev. Gause also served as pastor at Union Chapel AME Church and Mt. Pisgah AME Church in Galivants Ferry, SC; Mount Zion AME Church in Burgees Community of Myrtle Beach, SC and Williams Chapel AME Church in Nichols, SC. Rev. Gause also served as Supply Pastor at Bethel AME Church in Brittons Neck, SC and Popular AME Church in the Popular Community of Longs, SC.
For twenty consecutive years, through his inspirational messages at Greater St. James, Rev. Gause has drawn hungering souls of people with his authentic love for God, contagious energy, compassion, kingdom principles, and warm smile. With a strong education and a commitment to giving back to his community, Rev. Gause has been instrumental in the launch of a non-profit, community-based organization, Cochran Community Education Center, Inc. This center will facilitate faith-based programs to meet the direct needs of the residents in the Cochran Community.
If ever there was godly leader, Rev. Gause embodies such. His presence has had a tremendous impact on Grater St. James and the Cochron community. As a trailblazer, he continues to make an undeniable impression on the community and nation through his teaching and preaching the word of God while winning and reclaiming lost souls and making disciples
Rev. Gause is inspired and live daily by, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Philippians 4:13. He is indeed a true man of GOD.
